Overview
A 12 day tour of Ghana from northern Savannah to the southern coast, visiting the 2 northern capitals of Tamale and Bolgatanga, the Ashanti Kingdom, traditional villages & crafts, markets, beaches, many sites of the slave trade, sacred crocodile ponds, an ancient mosque and a mud brick cathedral. Includes safaris at Mole National Park and a cultural performance.

Daily Itinerary
Day 1
Accra Arrival
- Meet your arriving flight at Kotoka International Airport in Accra.
- Safe transport to your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle.
- Refresh and relax. Neighborhood or Accra city orientation as time permits.
- Overnight at a mid-range hotel in Tesano.

Day 2
Flight to Tamale, Rural Village, Wulugu Mud House
- Morning depart to Tamale, capital of the Northern Region, via a 9:30 AM flight.
- Arrive in Tamale at 10:30 AM. Sognaayilli culture village to learn rural village life.
- Continue towards Bolgatanga, stopping at the unique Zayaa mud house at Wulugu.
- Overnight at a mid-range hotel in Bolgatanga.

Day 3
Arts Village, Historic Bongo, Bolgatanga Craft Market
- Visit the Sirigu women's art and pottery village to see painted adobe structures.
- Hike among sacred rock formations and the massive Baobab trees in Bongo.
- Visit the Bolgatanga craft market and find the apostles statues along Bazaar Road.
- Overnight at a mid-range hotel in Bolgatanga.
Day 4
Sacred Crocodile Ponds, Pia Palace, Pikworo Slave Camp, Cathedral
- Morning at the sacred crocodile ponds of Paga and the Paga Pia palace.
- Visit the former slave camp at Pikworo, ascend the lookout rock.
- Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows mud-brick cathedral and grotto at Navrongo.
- Overnight at a mid-range hotel in Bolgatanga.
Day 5
Former Slave Market, Mole National Park Safari
- Early morning depart south to Mole National Park, Ghana's biggest wildlife park.
- Explore the former slave market of Saakpuli, visit museum & sacred Baobab tree.
- Arrive in time for the afternoon safari walk at Mole National Park (15:30 to 17:30).
- Overnight at a budget lodge in Mole National Park.
Day 6
Safari at Mole National Park, Mognori Cultural Village, Ancient Mosque
- Morning walking safari at Mole National Park (6:30 to 8:30).
- Mid-day cultural performance. Sudanese style mud-and-stick mosque at Larabanga.
- Afternoon driving safari at Mole National Park or relax at the pool side.
- Overnight at a budget lodge in Mole National Park.
Day 7
Mole National Park, Monkey Sanctuary
- Morning game walk at Mole National Park. Watch out for the baboons!
- Quickly depart on drive day from northern Savannah to central forests.
- Late afternoon fun with the monkeys at the Boabeng-Fiema monkey sanctuary.
- Overnight at an upscale hotel in central Kumasi.
Day 8
National Cultural Center, Manhyia Palace, Kejetia Market
- Morning visit to the National Cultural Center, one of Ghana's best museums.
- Home of the Ashanti King, Manhyia Palace, and the Komfo Anokye Sword.
- Shopping experience at West Africa's largest outdoor market.
- Overnight at an upscale hotel in central Kumasi.
Day 9
Ashanti Craft Villages, Butterfly Sanctuary
- Early depart to visit craft villages around Kumasi showcasing traditional crafts: wood carving, Adinkra cloth stamping, Kente cloth weaving. Visit a healing shrine.
- Late afternoon hike at the Bobiri forest reserve and butterfly sanctuary.
- Overnight at an upscale hotel in central Kumasi.
Day 10
Slave Cemetery, Cape Coast Castle
- Follow the slave trail to the coast, stopping at a former slave market and cemetery.
- Tour the UN World Heritage site of former slave dungeons at Cape Coast castle.
- Contemplate at the beach or browse the numerous shops near the castle.
- Overnight at a 3-star beach resort in Elmina.
Day 11
Kakum National Park, Culture Workshop, Cultural Performance
- Morning departure for West Africa's highest rain forest canopy walkway.
- Enjoy a special culture workshop learning Batik, Drumming, Cooking or Head Wrap.
- Evening performance of drumming and dance from various African cultures.
- Overnight at a 3-star beach resort in Elmina.
Day 12
Posuban Shrine, Accra Shopping, Family Compound, Departure
- Morning departure for Accra, visiting an extravagant Posuban shrine along the way.
- Visit a craft market, or Trashy Bags, where recycled plastic is crafted into accessories.
- Walking tour of the Kisseman urban ghetto. Traditional blessing for safe journey.
- Safe delivery to airport 2 hours before your evening flight.
