Why Travel to Africa?
Africa....Just the word conjures so many images, truths and myths.
Untamed nature, friendly natives and amazing vistas compete with disease, poverty and conflict in the media depictions of Africa. Of course all these things are to be found in Africa, and these competing realities are part of what make Africa one of the last true adventure destinations.
Africa is a giant continent and home to many different cultures spread among its 54 different nations. In a place as vast as Africa, it is difficult to generalize. There are mountains, deserts, jungles and tropical island paradises. There are stable, honest democracies as well as criminal despotic regimes. There are beautiful locations to enjoy scenery, culture and wildlife, as well as once-beautiful spaces destroyed by poorly planned developments, environmental exploitation and lack of sanitary facilities.
Fortunately, tourism has been a route to salvation for many threatened governments, animals and scenic locations - but only when people are able to see the benefits.
Examining the continent, you will see Northern Africa is home to our mostly Muslim brothers and sisters, while sub-Saharan Africa is home to black Africa, which is a mix of Christians, Muslims and Traditionalists. Of course these areas are quite different. But even in sub-Saharan Africa there are many distinct geographies and peoples. You would need to travel for some years across this vast continent to say you have experienced all of Africa.
Some cultural values are generally shared, such as the concept of a shared community, strong family unity, hospitality, and devout religiosity. Urbanization has lessened these values somewhat, but even in large progressive cities this is still a very conservative place.
Some values will seem quite different. The Western concepts of individual freedom and freedom of choice are not encountered widely. As part of a community, your behaviour reflects on your community, and individuals that do not conform can be ostracized. As a part of the plan of your supreme being, your path is guided or even pre-determined, and those who do not believe can be outcasts.
Without a doubt there are many highlights throughout the continent.
- Tour Africa to enjoy the amazing wildlife safaris of eastern Africa and southern Africa. This is where you need to travel to see giraffes or zebras.
- Holiday in Africa to visit the incredible Pyramids and the Sahel of northern Africa.
- Rough it in the rugged territory of gorilla country of central Africa.
- Have a relaxing vacation on our tranquil islands.
- But be certain that you travel to West Africa
